New Delhi: Haryana Steelers lifted their maiden PKL trophy as they beat Patna Pirates in the final of PKL season 11 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on December 29, Sunday. Shivam Patare scored nine points and was the top scorer of the match. Steelers’ head coach Manpreet Singh also landed his first PKL trophy as a coach as he lost three finals in PKL as a coach.
Steelers also avenged their last year’s final loss as they were stunned by Puneri Paltan in the PKL season 10 final. Mohammadreza Shadloui made a High 5 in the defence and Vinay scored six points against the Pirates in the crucial final.
Pirates’ dynamic raiding duo Devank and Ayan were outperformed by the Steelers’ defence as Devank scored only four raid points and Ayan scored three raid points against Steelers.
Steelers won the cash prize of 3 crores by winning PKL season 11. They were phenomenal in this edition of PKL as they finished the league stage in the first position in the points table. Steelers were also the first team to qualify for the playoffs and won their both knock-out matches dominantly.
The runner-ups of PKL season 11, Patna Pirates also won the cash prize of 1.8 crores. They finished the league stage in fourth place and dreamt of chasing their record fourth PKL title but failed to do so.
Steelers started the big final on a high note and caught Devank in his first raid of the match and took an early lead against Pirates. Steelers never trailed in the match and landed the first all-out on Pirates in the second half of the match.
