How Wholesale price inflation eased to 1.89 per cent in November 2024

New Delhi: Wholesale price inflation eased to 1.89 per cent in November 2024, as against 2.36 per cent in October 2024, government data showed on Monday. The WPI lowered to 1.89 per cent last month as prices of food items, especially vegetables turned cheaper, the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry said in its release.

The Wholesale Price Index based inflation was recorded at 2.36 per cent in October 2024. It was 0.39 per cent in November 2023. As per the government data, inflation in food items decreased to 8.63 per cent in November as compared to 13.54 per cent in October. The vegetable inflation declined to 28.57 per cent last month from 63.04 per cent in October.

It may be noted that the government acknowledged that potato prices remained on the higher side. Inflation in potato was recorded at 82.79 per cent, while onion inflation dropped to 2.85 per cent in November.

The fuel and power category deflation stood at 5.83 per cent in November as against 5.79 per cent in October. In manufactured items category, inflation was 2 per cent in November, against 1.50 per cent in October.
