New Delhi: The ongoing tussle between Pakistan and India over the 2025 Champions Trophy is quickly snowballing into a crisis. Instead of coming out with a solution to find the middle ground, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been used as a message courier by both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
In the most recent development, ICC has sought a response from the PCB on hosting the tournament in a hybrid model following India’s denial to travel to the country for the marquee event.
PCB received an email from the ICC on Sunday about India’s refusal to travel to the neighbouring country and ICC has asked the host nation to confirm if a Hybrid Model – in which India’s matches and the final are held in Dubai – is acceptable to them.
While the ICC has assured, that under the proposed model, PCB would receive full hosting fees and a majority of the matches, there is no official response yet from the CT 2025 hosts.
However, reports are also doing the rounds that, in retaliation to BCCI’s stance, Pakistan might withdraw from the global event.
Despite the acrimonious relations between the two nations, PCB is eager to host India, which has cut down all bilateral cricket ties with their neighbouring country since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Pakistani fans also desperately want to see the Indian superstars in their country, so much so, that they are willing to ask the question directly to the players and one fan confronted Suryakumar Yadav about the same.

Surya was accompanied by Rinku Singh at what looked like a gaming arcade. The Surya-led Indian team will face South Africa in the third T20I at the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion on Wednesday, November 13. The four-match series is tied at 1-1.
While India won the first match convincingly by 61 runs at Kingsmead, Durban, Proteas went level with a three-wicket win in the second T20I in Gqeberha. The fourth and final match will be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday, November 15.
