‘Hurts more than breakup’: Fans show disappointment over Virat Kohli’s dismissal in 1st Test vs Australia

New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s poor form continued in Australia as the star batter was dismissed for just five runs in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Friday. A short of a length delivery from Hazlewood saw Kohli edging the ball to Usman Khawaja in slip.

Kohli has been struggling to score runs for a very long time. In the home Test series against New Zealand, he only scored just 93 runs in the six innings. India lost 4 big wickets in the first session and managed to score just 51 runs in 25 overs.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood removed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal on a duck. Hazlewood dismissed Kohli on 5 runs and picked up his second wicket, while Mitchell Starc removed KL Rahul on 25 runs. After losing the home Test series against New Zealand by 3-0, team India need to win at least four Test matches to qualify for the third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Rarely seen Virat Kohli play a more anxiety-ridden knock in Australia than this one. Edgy, nervy & just never looked settled. Almost too desperate #AusvInd
