‘I don’t know whether..’: MS Dhoni opens up on his relationship with Virat Kohli – WATCH

New Delhi: Legendary India captain MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli share a very special relationship. The star batter always admired Dhoni and thanked him many times for saving his career. Kohli made his international debut under the leadership of MS Dhoni against Sri Lanka in 2008. Both played together for over a decade and won many matches for the Indian team.

The former captain also groomed Kohli for the leadership role and the Delhi-born cricketer took over as the captain across all three formats. Dhoni played under Kohli’s leadership during the last phase of his international career.

Kohli became the second Indian cricketer after MS Dhoni to win all three ICC trophies. He played a crucial innings in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup and helped India to win the ICC trophy. After the match, Kohli announced his retirement from the shortest format.

The star batter is currently on a break and is expected to be back in action during the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh at home. Meanwhile, there’s still no confirmation about Dhoni’s participation in the IPL 2025.

‘We played together for a very long time’: MS Dhoni

In an event, MS Dhoni talked about his relationship with Virat Kohli and said that they played cricket together since 2008/09. Dhoni also praised Kohli and said that he’s amongst the best players when it comes to world cricket.

“We have been playing since 2008/09; there’s still an age gap. So I don’t know whether I would say like I am an older brother or colleague or whatever name you give it. But at the end of the day, we have been colleagues, you know, who played for India for a very long time. He has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket” MS Dhoni said.
