New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni recently dismissed one of the most popular and long-standing rumours about him during a promotional event for the franchise. Dhoni is currently leading CSK once again in the ongoing IPL 2025 after taking over the reins due to an injury to regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.
During the event, Dhoni was asked to reveal the most ridiculous rumour he has heard about himself, and the former India captain decided to debunk the myth that he used to drink 4-5 litres of milk every day as a youngster. “I drink five litres of milk a day,” said Dhoni with a smile. He later clarified that he did drink around a litre of milk throughout the day, but 4-5 litres would have been too much.
“I used to drink, maybe, a litre of milk spread throughout the day. But four litres – it’s a bit too much for anyone,” Dhoni added.
The popular rumour about Dhoni gulping down 4-5 litres of milk a day went viral during his initial days in international cricket. Dhoni made his India debut in 2004 and quickly established his credentials as one of the fearsome hitters. He was a force to reckon with in the middle order and was known for his ability to hit big sixes.
It was during his rise as a power hitter that a rumour started doing the rounds that drinking 4-5 litres of milk daily was the secret behind his big-hitting prowess. Dhoni batted across different positions for the Indian team before taking up the finisher’s role after becoming the full-time captain. He remains one of the most decorated captain, finisher and wicket-keeper in Indian cricket history.
