New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the tickets for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. With just 20 days to go until the showpiece event begins, the apex cricket body has made an exciting announcement as they have announced the tickets to start at just five dirhams (Rs 114.28).
Apart from this, for the cricket enthusiasts under the age of 18, free entry has been announced to boost the attendance in the women’s cricket. The event is supposed to be held in the UAE and the initiative was revealed alongside a spectacular laser show organised on the iconic Burj Khalifa. ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said that the exciting thing about the event in the place in which its being hosted, as UAE is all about diversity.
“It’s a place where the entire world is represented! This means that this is effectively a home World Cup for all 10 teams, and players can enjoy the support of passionate fans. With that in mind, I’m delighted to announce today that tickets will be available from just five dirhams, and Under-18s will go free”.
T20 World Cup set to begin on October 3
The tournament, which is scheduled to start on October 3, will see 10 teams participating across 23 matches over 18 days. All the teams are divided into two groups. While group A features Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Scotland and West Indies. The format will have a round-robin structure, where each each team will play the other four teams in its group, with the top two moving to the knockout stages.
The big-ticket event will start off in Sharjah, with Bangladesh facing Scotland on October 3. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 in Dubai and October 18 in Sharjah, with the grand finale set for October 20 in Dubai. Before the tournament, teams will participate in warm-up matches from September 28 to October 1.
