New Delhi: Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson batted like a man possessed as he slammed a sensational knock of 111 runs off just 47 balls in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday. Samson went hammers and tongs to notch up his maiden T20I ton off just 40 balls to record the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in the shortest format.
Opening the batting with Abhishek Sharma, Samson made his intentions clear from the word go as he went after the Bangladesh bowlers from the word go. The prolific right-hander, who is known for his brilliant strokeplay, completed his fifty off just 22 balls before racing away to his maiden T20I ton off just 40 balls.
Samson’s 111 off 47 balls was studded with 11 fours and 8 sixes as he played some unreal shots during his stay in the middle. The right-hander played a ridiculous shot against Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the 8th over of India’s innings which left many, including the commentators and the fans in awe of Samson’s skills.
On the penultimate delivery of the 8th over fromMutafizur, Samson played an extraordinary shot to smash a six over covers. It was a back-of-length ball from the left-arm pacer, bowled outside off. Samson tucked himself into the crease and punched the ball on the back-foot through extra covers for a maximum. The ridiculous hit earned him praise from all corners on social media.
Here’s how fans reacted to Sanju Samson’s ridiculous six:
