New Delhi: The Indian Kabaddi men’s and women’s team continued their flamboyant performances against England in the final match of the 2025 Kabaddi World Cup, to clinch the title at the WV Active Aldersley in Wolverhampton on Sunday. The tournament was hosted by England as they too entered the final of both men’s and women’s finals but couldn’t succeed in any of those.
In the first final, the Indian women’s kabaddi team defeated the hosts by a margin of 57-34 in the final match, while the Indian men’s team faced the Englishmen in the second final, winning it by a close margin of 44-41.

A look at the campaigns
The Indian men’s team remained undefeated in the tournament and went on to claim the trophy. Starting their campaign against Italy, they beat them comprehensively followed by thrashings of Hong Kong and Wales in the group matches. They managed to secure a spot in quarter-finals by playing a draw with Scotland. In the quarterfinal, they faced Hungary, whom they beat 69-24 followed by a 93-37 semi-final victory over Wales before heading into the final.
The women’s team was no less in the tournament and showcased their dominance to the world with a one-sided win in the final. They started their campaign by beating Wales in the group stage, followed by a clinical win over Poland. In the semi-final, they faced Hong Kong China and beat them by 53-15, securing their place in the final and beating England subsequently.
The tournament was staged outside Asia for the first time and saw the top kabaddi teams of the world competing across the West Midlands, with matches in Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, and Wolverhampton.
This was the second edition of the tournament which was held from 17th to 23rd March. It’s inaugural edition was held in 2019 in Malaysia where India had won both the men’s and women’s crowns.
