New Delhi: Veteran Pakistani actor Talat Hussain passed away on May 26 at the age of 83. The late star was battling with a prolonged illness and was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi. While the actor was known for his performances in Lollywood, many don’t know that Talat had his roots in India. The news of his death was confirmed by Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui, who took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share the tragic news.
Talat Hussain’s Indian roots
For those who do not know, Talat was born on September 18, 1940, in Delhi. However, his family migrated to Pakistan after the partition in 1947. Not only this, Talat has also worked with Rekha, Jaya Prada and Jeetendra in the 1989 film Souten Ki Beti.
The late actor studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in 1982. Fans of Talat and his fellow performers expressed their grief on social media following his demise.

Talat was also known for his exceptional work in several critically acclaimed TV dramas and movies. He shot to fame after starring in projects like Aansoo, Bandish, Arjumand, Des Pardes, Eid Ka Zora, Tariq Bin Ziyad, Fanuni Latifi, Hawain and others. Apart from TV shows he also worked in several films. Talat has also worked in the British television series Traffik (1989) and the British-Pakistani film Jinnah (1998). He also won an award for his supporting role in the Norwegian movie Import-Eksport.
