India’s billionaire count rises to 300! Gautam Adani replaces Mukesh Ambani as richest Indian

New Delhi: Billionaire Gautam Adani replaced Mukesh Ambani as india’s richest person with a fortune of Rs 11.6 lakh crore, according to the Hurun India rich list. Overall, India’s billionaire count has crossed the 300 mark for th first time with India having 334 billionaires according to the lastest Hurun Rich List.

Moreover, India now has over 1,500 people whose wealth exceeds the Rs 1,000 crore mark, 150 per cent higher than 7 years ago.

India had 1 billionaire for every 5 days of the year

India had 1 billionaire for every 5 days in 2024, according to the Hurun Rich List. India’s ultra-high net worth individual (HNI) count has risen by 220 to 1,539 this year, according to the list. There are 272 new faces in the list, making this the first instance of India’s ultra HNI count exceeding the 1,500 mark. This is an 86 per cent rise in 5 years, CNBCTV18 reported, citing the Hurun Rich List. India now has 18 persons with a fortune exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore, compared to 6 people a year ago.

Actors debuted on Hurun Rich List

Actor Shah Rukh Khan debuted in the Hurun Rich List with a Rs 7,300 crore fortune from holdings in IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders as well as his production house Red Chillies Entertainment. Fellow actors who debuted on the list include:

Cities with most billionaires in India

While Mumbai remained the leading city for billionaires in India, Hyderabad outpaced Bengaluru to claim the third spot on the list for having the most billionaires in India.
