Infosys Layoffs: What happened during Mysuru Campus Firings | Details will shock you

Mysuru: IT services company Infosys recently laid off over 300 freshers who underwent foundational training at its Mysuru campus. A report has now claimed that the fired trainees were asked to leave the campus the same day, despite repeated requests to stay the night.

Infosys fired the 300 freshers at its Mysuru campus as resorts suggested that they could not clear internal assessments after three attempts.

A fired female trainee, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, told MoneyControl that her request to allow her stay overnight at the campus fell on deaf ears and she was asked by the company officials to leave the campus by 6 pm as she was no longer part of the company.

The fired trainees claimed that the IT services major executed the layoffs with strict security measures. She claimed the trainees were called in batches of 50 at 9:30 am along with their laptops. Thereafter, they were asked to enter a room which was guarded by security outside and bouncers inside.

One trainee told MoneyControl that Infosys executed the mass firings discreetly, as senior employees and US clients were on the campus that day.

After the mass layoffs at Infosys, IT employee union NITES, had claimed that the number of freshers affected by the move was much higher, and threatened to lodge an official complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It said the letter would request the government to urgently intervene and take strict action against the company.

In response to an email query from PTI, the Bengaluru-headquartered IT services company said, “At Infosys, we have a rigorous hiring process where all freshers, after undergoing extensive foundational training at our Mysuru campus, are expected to clear internal assessments.” All freshers get three attempts to clear the assessment, failing which they will not be able to continue with the organisation, the company said, asserting that this clause “is also mentioned in their contract”.
