New Delhi: Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel rued conceding too many runs in their 14-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025. The loss was Delhi’s third in four matches at their home ground of the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

They remain fourth with 12 points from 10 matches, behind Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans in net run rate desite having similar number of points. KKR moved to nine points from 10 matches and are placed seventh and kept their chances of advancing to the play-offs.

Delhi won the toss and opted to bowl after which KKR posted 204 for nine with Angkrish Raghuvanshic top-scoring with a 32-ball 44, including three fours and two sixes.

In their run chase, Delhi were comfortable placed at 136/3 after which they suffered a collapse and were restricted at 190 for nine.

Speaking after the match, Axar, who suffered a hand injury, during the match and was seen grimacing in pain while scoring a 23-ball 43, said: “The way we bowled in the powerplay, thought we gave 15-20 too many. In the chase, there were some miscalculations and soft dismissals. The way we restricted them after the powerplay was good.

The left hander also felt that they batted very well and were not lucky enough to pull off the win.

“The way we batted, even if two-three batters did well, we lost by very little. When you lose close matches, you know you have to be calm in the middle. When Vipraj was scoring runs, we had hopes. If Ashutosh would have stayed, it would have helped,” he added.

Luck sometimes works in your favour and sometimes against. [Hand] My hand dragged on the surface, so the skin peeled off. So whenever I tried batting, it was paining. We have three-four days gap before SRH game, so I hope to recover.”
