New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to crown a new winner as Punjab Kings (PBKS) booked the last remaining seat in the final, after thrashing Mumbai Indians (MI) by five wickets in the Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. While cruising towards the victory, PBKS went on to claim several records as the playoff clash lived up to the expectations, setting up a clash (vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru) between two maiden-trophy seekers.

Opting to bowl first, PBKS leaked 203 runs in 20 overs as MI lost six wickets and set a daunting target of 204 runs for the Shreyas Iyer-led side. As it was a neutral venue, the two teams looked to have equal support in the stands. Azmatullah Omarzai was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab as he scalped two wickets while the other four bowlers in their attack grabbed one each.

As the Mumbai batters did a pretty decent job of breaching 200, PBKS came in to give their reply. While their openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, were expected to go big, they went back on cheap scores of six and 20, respectively. Josh Inglis chipped in with a 21-ball 38 until Iyer and Nehal Wadhera (48 off 29) took it to themselves and added 84 runs for the fourth wicket with Iyer (87* off 41) finishing the job and making PBKS IPL 2025 final-bound.

All records claimed by PBKS

PBKS posted 207/5 on the scoreboard in 19 overs, getting to the target with a complete over to spare, claiming several records with the successful run-chase. This is now the highest-ever successful chase in the history of IPL playoffs/knockout, and it is also for the first time ever that 200+ has been successfully chased against MI.

This is also for the eighth time PBKS have chased 200+, which is the most by a team in the IPL, and talking of the ongoing season (IPL 2025), this is the ninth successful 200+ chase, the most in a single edition.
