New Delhi: Punjab Kings (GT) will lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The third playoff clash of the season, this is the only opportunity for the two sides to grab a ticket for the final clash and meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which makes winning a must, and the losing side will be straight knocked out.
The two teams previously faced each other once during the league stage of their respective campaigns as PBKS hosted MI in Jaipur on Monday, May 26, and claimed a seven-wicket win against them. While PBKS come for a second shot at the final, after losing the Qualifier 1 to RCB by eight wickets on Thursday, MI come on the back of a win in the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT), knocking them out of the title race by 20 runs on Friday.
In the points table, PBKS is first with nine wins and 19 points, while MI is fourth with eight wins and thus 16 points. It will be exciting to watch who’s taking this one and secure the last ticket to the summit final clash.

Motera Stadium Weather Report
According to Accuweather, there will be “clouds and sunshine” in Ahmedabad during the daytime. The city might see some rain, although there aren’t any chances of a thunderstorm. There will also be some clouds in the sky. As the evening begins, the skies would start getting clearer, but the rain chances remain quite similar to the day, which brings a brief interruption in the game on the cards. The temperature would vary between 27 to 39 degrees Celsius.
Motera Stadium Pitch Report
The track at the Narendra Modi Stadium is expected to be batting-friendly in the Qualifier 2 clash as it has helped the batters at large, which means a high-scoring contest appears likely. The pitch has been under the covers for the past few hours, so making a prediction is tricky, but taking into account the 14 innings played at the venue during the current season, nine have seen totals above 200, the most at any single venue in a single IPL season.
The trend is expected to continue on Sunday night, unless there’s another meltdown like that of PBKS in Qualifier 1. The teams that have batted first here have won six out of seven games, the only loss coming in a day game. So the toss-winning captain may choose to bat.
