New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to score most runs for Mumbai Indians in an edition of the Indian Premier League.
The India T20I skipper smashed 57 off 39 deliveries with the help of six boundaries and two sixes against Punjab Kings on Monday to reach 640 runs in 14 matches, going past 618 Tendulkar scored in 15 matches in 2010.
Earlier in the ongoing edition, Suryakumar completed 4,000 runs club in the tournament’s history, reaching the milestone in his 160th match (145 innings) hitting two hundreds and 28 half-centuries.

The right hander has the most successive scores of 25 or more in an IPL edition, registering 14 such scores in the ongoing campaign, going past Kane Williamson (13 in 2018) and Shubman Gill (13 in 2023).
Suryakumar is also the only batter with 600-plus runs in multiple editions for Mumbai, having scored 605 runs from 16 games at a strike rate of 181.13 in 2023.
8500 runs in T20s
The middle-order batter also completed 8,500 runs in T20 cricket in MI’s IPL 2025 match against Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
He reached the landmark through the 14th run of his innings, in his 323rd T20 match, in which he has scored six centuries and 58 fifties.
He has made 2,598 runs in 83 T20Is for the Indian team while more than 4100 runs have been made in the IPL.

Suryakumar is the fifth Indian batter with over 8,500 runs in T20s, behind Virat Kohli (13,434), Rohit Sharma (12,000), Shikhar Dhawan (9,797) and Suresh Raina (8,654).
He is also the only Indian batter with more than 1,000 T20I runs in a calendar year, having scored 1,164 runs in 31 T20Is at a strike rate of 187.43 in 2022, with the help of two centuries and nine half-centuries.
