New Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill registered a big record in IPL during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The flamboyant batter became the second-fastest player to score 1000 runs at a single venue in the cash-rich league. Gill achieved the milestone in just his 20th innings in Indian Premier League.
After put into bat first, Gill scored a fine knock of 38 runs off just 27 deliveries studded with four boundaries and a maximum before he being sent back to the pavilion by Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya. Gujarat accumulated a total score of 196/8 runs in the stipulated 20 overs as opener Sai Sudharsan and English batter Jos Buttler excelled with the bat apart from the skipper.
Gill second on the elusive list
After the milestone achievement, Gill stands behind West Indies legend Chris Gayle who reached 1000 runs in the IPL in just 19 innings at the M. Chinaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. Australian David Warner is third on the list having reached the feat in 22 innings at Hyderabad while Shaun Marsh is on the fourth sport as he took 26 innings to reach 1000 runs in Mohali.

Meanwhile, during the innings, openers Gill and Sudharsan took the Titans to a strong start accumulating 66/0 in the powerplay. This was the first wicketless powerplay in the first innings in the ongoing 18th edition of the league. Both the sides would be hoping for a win in this encounter as they have faced a defeat each in their opening clashes respectively of IPL 2025.
Meanwhile for Mumbai, skipper Hardik Pandya claimed two wickets giving away 29 runs while Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Trent Boult picked a wicket each. Deepak Chahar also contributed with a scalp in the 19th over of the first innings.
