IRCTC deactivates 2.5 crore fake accounts to smoothen Tatkal Ticket booking service

New Delhi: The bookings through the IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) are going to be hassle-free now. With the help of artificial intelligence, IRCTC has come up with a new plan to block suspicious accounts. These suspicious accounts book the Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets with the use of bots and automated tools. Now, these accounts are being cracked down upon. IRCTC has blocked more than 2 crore such suspicious accounts.

The safety step has been taken, keeping in mind the hassles the passengers face whenever they book Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets. The railways, through the help of AI, targeted the bots that help scammers book tickets online. The crackdown is being done on these bots. At the time of writing this article, over 2 crore such accounts got blocked, and over 20 lakh accounts are being considered for suspension pending the verification of Aadhar and other documents.

In an event like this, it is better advised to link the Aadhaar with the IRCTC account to avoid a blockade.

IRCTC Tatkal booking

IRCTC is giving privileged access to its subscribers for the first 10 minutes of Tatkal booking in order to promote transparency and ensure fair access. During this window, the access would be blocked even to authorised agents too. This provision makes Aadhaar verification an important step to access a streamlined booking experience.

IRCTC has a pool of over 13 crore subscribers that have active accounts, yet only 1.2 crore subscribers have Aadhaar-verified accounts. Currently, the IRCTC is examining all non-Aadhar-linked accounts. The accounts would be deactivated permanently in case the account is found suspicious.

IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sanjay Kumar Jain has asked for the approval of the Railway Board in order to allow for early access to the Aadhar/PAN-authenticated users. Upon receiving the nod, the corporation has moved ahead with its plan to implement the move.

The initiative aims to ease the booking process for legitimate passengers. The railway corporation is also prioritizing Aadhaar-linked accounts, offering privileged access during the initial Tatkal booking window and urging users to link their Aadhaar for secure access.  Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
