New Delhi: Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is considering a comeback in football and is reportedly in talks with two Saudi Pro League sides. De Gea previously announced his retirement after the Red Devils decided against extending his contract.
Since he departed from Manchester United in the summer of 2023, goalkeeper David de Gea’s future has been uncertain. However, all is set to change, as it has been reported that there are teams that would like to have the Spanish goalkeeper on their side.
As per reports, there is interest in the Spanish goalkeeper from the Middle East. Al Shadab and an unnamed club from Saudi Arabia are vying to sign De Gea. Though the former United captain hasn’t given a concrete answer to the clubs, he is considering the offers made by them.
Throughout the year when De Gea has been on a playing sabbatical, he has garnered interest from several clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Nottingham Forest.
The 33-year-old left Old Trafford after serving the side for 12 years. He joined the 20-time Premier League winner from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. He wasn’t an immediate success but soon became popular amongst fans due to his brilliant performances for the Red Devils. A dip in form in the last couple of seasons with the club made him a liability for Man United, and the club decided not to renew his contract after the 2022/23 season.
De Gea had one of the most impressive stints for Manchester United between 2011 and 2023. He played 545 games for the club, keeping possession intact in 190 games and, in another meeting, only conceding 590 goals.
He has been considered one of the best goalkeepers to have ever graced the Premier League over the last decade and a half. De Gea won the Premier League Golden Glove twice and was named Manchester United’s player of the season four times. He was also included in the PFA Team of the Season on five occasions. Last month, he was spotted training with the full Manchester United kit, and there have been talks of his comeback since.
De Gea has considered the offers made to him by Saudi League clubs but yet to make any decisions yet. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
