Is IPL 2025 last for Dhoni? Morse code on CSK batter’s T-shirt sparks retirement buzz

New Delhi: CSK batter MS Dhoni has once again set the cricketing world abuzz with the speculations of his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The legendary former Indian captain arrived in Chennai ahead of IPL 2025 on Wednesday, February 26. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a cryptic message about his future.

In the last few years, Dhoni has faced constant speculation regarding his future in the IPL and now a cryptic message on his T-shirt has reignited the debate. CSK shared a picture of Dhoni arriving in Chennai for pre-season camps, wearing a black t-shirt with what appeared to be an encoded message. The fans decoded the text as Morse code spelling out the words “ONE LAST TIME”.

The subtle hint has sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, fueling speculation that IPL 2025 could be Dhoni’s last season in the yellow jersey. The former CSK skipper admitted earlier this year that he’s not fit as he used to be and he needs to put a lot of effort now to be fit for cricket.

“What really helps me is playing a lot of sports in between eating and going to the gym. So whenever I get time I like to play a lot of different sports, may be tennis, badminton, football, that keeps me engaged. That’s the best way of being in touch with fitness” Dhoni said.

The former India captain has retired from all formats of cricket except the IPL. He stepped down as CSK captain ahead of the 2024 season and passed the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished fifth on the points table in 2024.

Dhoni has led CSK to five titles and is one of the most successful captains in IPL history along with Rohit Sharma. The IPL 2025 is set to begin with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens on March 22 while Chennai Super Kings will begin their campaign against rivals Mumbai Indians on March 23.
