New Delhi: UFC Lightweight champions successfully defended his title against late-replacement Renato Moicano in the first round at the Intuit Dome arena in Inglewood on January 19, Sunday. Islam took just four minutes to finish the number 10 ranked fighter and successfully defended his title fourth time.

Makhachev came with a 14-fight win streak and after Umar Nurmagomedov’s unbeaten 18-fight win streak got broken in the co-main event, it became more important for Makhachev to defend his title.

Moicano caught the champion early on with his right hand which hurt him badly but after that shot, Makhachev changed his gameplan and directly went to his legs and shot his first takedown of the bout and locked a Darce choke and broke the record for most Lightweight title defense in the UFC history.

Moicano came in this fight with a one-day’s notice after Arman Tsarukyan pulled out from the fight due to his back injury. Now after the UFC 311 event, Dana White confirmed that Arman will not get any title shot on his return.

Charles Oliviera wants Islam Makhachev next for title shot

Former UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliviera was present in the UFC 311 event. After Islam’s victory over Moicano, Oliviera demanded his rematch against Islam.

“It was a great fight,” Charles Oliveira said. “He’s (Islam Makhachev) the champion. He did what he had to do. But I’m next — and he knows that. The lightweight champion is called Charles Oliveira. I’m ready for that.” Charles Oliviera stated on his social media.

Islam won the lightweight title against Oliviera and now the champion almost finished everyone in the division, he will be able to give the title rematch to Oliviera later this year.

UFC Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria also mocked the lightweight champion after his victory and wants to TKO him in his own division.
