Jasprit Bumrah scripts history, becomes 1st bowler in the world to achieve huge feat

New Delhi: Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah scripted history with a six-wicket haul in Australia’s first innings of the ongoing third Test between the two sides at the Gabba in Brisbane as he became the first bowler in the world to complete 190 wickets in Test cricket at an average of less than 20. Bumrah was on top of his game on Day 2 of the Test match as he bagged his 12th five-wicket haul for India in the longest format.

In what was a disappointing day otherwise for the Indian bowling attack with centurions Travis Head and Steve Smith helping Australia dominate the proceedings, Bumrah was the only silver lining for India. He got India off to a great start with the ball on Day 2 by removing Aussie openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in quick succession.

However, a 241-run stand between Head and Smith brought the hosts back into the game before Bumrah came back to haunt Australia again. He went on to dismiss both Smith and Head along with Mitchell Marsh to complete his fifer on Day 2 and reach 190 wickets in Test cricket. The Indian pacer created a unique record with the help of his fifer at the Gabba.
