New Delhi: Pakistan cricket team has undoubtedly reached its lowest point in the history of the game. The last one year has been filled with just disappointments for them which have come out of humiliating early exits from big tournaments and defeats against lower-ranked teams. Pakistan, which was one of the biggest and strongest teams in world cricket at one point of time, has succumbed badly over the years.
In yet another addition to their list of unwanted records, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium proved very unlucky for them as they were ruthlessly punished by visitors Bangladesh in both the Test matches, going down for the first time against the Asian rivals. While fans lambasted their heroes for a below-par performance in the Test series, legendary Pakistan cricketers had just one thing to say – it’s hurting.
Veteran cricketers like Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ahmed Shahzad among others heavily criticised the Pakistan cricket team for a shoddy performance against the visiting side, saying that it’s hurting that Pakistan cricket has come to such a stage where they are beaten by anyone and almost everyone.
Hurting that our cricket has come to this stage
Miandad, who is considered one of the best-ever cricketers in the country, said that it is hurting that our cricket has come to this stage. The legendary player further said that the way the batting collapsed in this series is a bad sign. The former Test skipper further credited Bangladesh for their disciplined performances.
Former captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq said losing three series and going without a win at home in nine Tests was a worrying record.
“Home series were always considered our best chance of beating the best sides in the past. But for this to happen the batsmen need to get runs,” he said.
Pakistan’s record-breaking batsman Younis Khan and former Test batter Ahmed Shehzad also blasted the team such a bad performance. Younis said that the batter in the team need mental strengthening along with a clear mind to overcome this crises. Meanwhile, Shehzad said that if they cannot handle a bit of pace and movement at home, then the future does not look very bright.
