New Delhi: The legendary Sachin Tendulkar received a rousing welcome at the centre court as he attended Wimbledon 2024 in the UK on Saturday, July 06. Sachin was among the hosts of notable guests who were present at the centre court to witness the action live. The Master Blaster, who is a tennis fan, often visits the UK to watch the Wimbledon.
Wimbledon’s official account shared a video of Sachin acknowledging the cheers from the crowd after his name was announced at the Centre Court. England’s star batter Joe Root, who was also in attendance at Wimbledon, was spotted clapping as the crowd cheered for the Master Blaster. The likes of England Test skipper Ben Stokes and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola were also seen sitting in the row behind Sachin.

Sachin was introduced as a World Cup winner and the highest run-getter of all time in international cricket. The Master Blaster was part of the India squad that won the ODI World Cup under the legendary MS Dhoni in 2011. It was Sachin’s last World Cup for India and he was handed a fitting farewell by his teammates, who won the elusive trophy for him.
The Master Blaster was carried on their shoulders by the Indian players during the team’s victory lap at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final. The Master Blaster continues to remain an inspiration for many even after his retirement from the game. Sachin continues to hold the record for most runs in international cricket and is also the only batter with 100 centuries across all formats.

Djokovic defeated Jacob Fearnley in his last outing and will be looking to continue his winning run in the tournament. Djokovic is the favourite to clinch the Wimbledon 2024 title as he continues his hunt for his 25th Grand Slam crown.
