Multan: Joe Root continued from where he left on Day 3 of the first Test against Pakistan, completing a magnificent double century in the morning session of the fourth day. Resuming the day on 176, Root took no time to reach his sixth double century and surpass Alastair Cook in the list of most double hundreds for England.

England resumed the day on 492/3 in 101.0 overs and continued to pile misery on Pakistani bowlers, taking little time to surpass their first-innings total of 556.
Root, on Wednesday, became England’s all-time leading run-getter overtaking Alastair Cook before slamming his 35th century in Test cricket.
By doing so, Root surpassed legends such as Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Younis Khan on the list of most Test centuries.
Root was given a reprieve on 192 as Babar Azam dropped a sitter at mid-wicket off the bowling of Naseem Shah. The Pakistani fans were left in disbelief after the missed opportunity to get the most dangerous batter in the opposition team back in the pavillion.
