New Delhi: Former BMF Champion Justin Gaethje revealed his likely next opponent on his return in the octagon. Gaethje will likely fight no. 6 ranked Dan Hooker at UFC 313. He didn’t fight since his last loss against Max Holloway at UFC 300 where he lost his BMF title.
Gaethje suffered his first knockout loss in his UFC career and after that, he took a long break from UFC. Now he is targeting his UFC return at the T Mobile arena in New York in UFC 313. He started his return on his YouTube channel.
“So there’s no official fight signed but I told the UFC maybe two or three months ago that March was the date I was looking for,” Gaethje said. “I know there’s a fight on March 8th in Las Vegas so that’s the one I told them I wanted to be on. I think they’re figuring out fights right now but I’m certainly mentally preparing, physically preparing to fight on that date” Gaethje said on his YouTube.
Meanwhile, Hooker was also out of action since UFC 305 event. He fought against Mateusz Gamrot and significantly won the fight in style. Hooker made his return to the UFC lightweight rankings and now looking for a title shot in the division.
Hooker is on three win streak since his loss against Arnold Allen in March 2022 and undefeated in the last three years and looking fit for his return. Both fighters are the top contenders in the lightweight championship and will move forward with another win in the division.
UFC 311 event will also make the picture more clear where lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is set to defend his title against Arman Tsarukyan. Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to be seen in the ringside for his brother’s other title defense. This will be Islam’s fourth title defense in the lightweight division.
