New Delhi: Pop sensation Katy Perry has emerged victorious following a years of legal battle over the rights to a Monteciti estate. She finally filed the deed for the contested property in California on Friday, 17 May, as reported by Wall Street Journal. She is now the official owner of the $15 million (approx Rs 124 crore) idyllic Montecito home.

According to Wall Street Journal, the singer, 39, successfully acquired the massive property through her LLC, DDoveB, on Friday, 17 May. The LLC is a nod to Perry’s daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, 3, with fiancé Orlando Bloom, who she was pregnant with when they first sold the home in 2020.
After the three-year long battle, a Los Angeles judge ruled against him and in the favour of the celerity couple.
In July 2020, Carl Westcott had signed a real estate contract agreeing to sell the property to Perry by later he claimed that he was under the influence of opioids and painkillers following major back surgery. He suffered from Huntington’s Disease and said that he only realised what he had signed away when the effects of the painkillers wore off days later and then he tried to rescind the contract.
As per People, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner said, “Westcott presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity into a real estate contract.”
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Perry’s attorney Eric Rowen said, “The evidence shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract for no other reason than he had changed his mind. We look forward to wrapping this matter up at the scheduled damage trial phase.”
Katy Perry has also demanded millions of dollars in lost rent from Westcott that they could have charged for the eight-bedroom home.
