In his election manifesto, as part of the foreign policy agenda, Keir Starmer highlighted his commitment towards pursuing a ‘new strategic partnership’ with India; the PM-designate also said that he would work towards strengthening the UK-India relations.
As part of his attempt to establish a fresh strategic partnership with India, Starmer expressed his discontent regarding Labour Party’s stance on the Kashmir issue. According to his manifesto, Keir Starmer would work towards a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The manifesto also said that Starmer would also improve bilateral cooperation across multiple fields including education, climate change, security and technology. Keir Starmer has also acknowledged India as one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

In his manifesto, Keir Starmer has also spoken about improving relations with the Indians residing in United Kingdom. During one of his campaigns, the Labour Party leader denounced ‘Hinduphobia’ and spoke about celebrating Indian festivals like Holi and Diwali.
