New Delhi: India men’s Kho Kho team trounced Peru 70-38 in their third group A match of the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here. This was the third win on the trot recorded by Pratik Waikar & Co, consolidating their chances to enter the quarterfinals.

Sachin Bhargav made the first tag on Peru after the visitors dodged for the first 40 seconds. Within 90 seconds, the first batch of defenders were off the mat as the Indians clawed back their way in the game.

Peru defenders gave a good run to the Indians as the second batch was dismissed just 20 seconds before they could complete their dream run. Ankit Pote made some fabulous sky-dives to continue plunderinf points.

The last batch of Peru defenders were sent back in the dugout in just 23 seconds as Pratik Waikar made a couple of tags.

Aakash Singh and Ramji Kashyap further added a few points to tag two more batches with the hosts picking up 36 points without conceding a dream run in the first turn.

Aakash remains sedate as Peru make sky-dives for tags

Aakash Singh showed calm and composure to deny the Peru team a touch even though he was too close to the opposition attackers, just shrewd moves and acclimating to the positions, he went slowly and kep dodging. However, India felt short of bagging a dream run.

The second Indian batch also ran out of steam just when they were close for a dream run.

The sky dives from Peru attackers didn’t came in efficacy because the Indian defenders managed to escape with ease. India couldn’t add a dream run in the second turn, meaning they couldn’t add any points but they also ensured to not conceded enough points and led by 36-16.

The lead was extended in the third turn after 34 points were added by the Indian chasers in the third turn. India were ahead by 70-16. Peru made some improvements in the final turn with 22 points in chase, six more than what they added in the second turn. But the efforts seemed meagre as India were far away ahead of their South American opponents.

India women enter quarterfinals 

The Indian women’s kho kho team continued to post emphatic wins in the Kho Kho World Cup. After tottering South Korea in their opening game, the Women in Blue crushed Iran by 100-16 on Wednesday. It took India just 33 seconds to eliminate Iran’s first batch of defenders. Ashwini and Meenu were the top performers in their attack as they kept getting those deft touches. Nirmala Bhati, Priyanka Ingle, Nasreen Shaikh also chipped in as the Iran players were befuddled by their tactics. India sealed a spot in the quarter-final
