New Delhi: Former all-rounder Shahid Afridi slammed Shan Masood and Co. after losing the first Test by 10 wickets against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
Masood and Co. declared their first innings for 448/6. Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored brilliant centuries for the team. In reply, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 191 runs while Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also made crucial contributions as Bangladesh posted 565 runs in the first innings.
The Men in Green trailed by 117 runs and the match was heading towards a draw. But Pakistani batters struggled against the spin bowling. Mohammad Rizwan showed some intent in the second innings and scored 51 runs but didn’t get much support from the other end.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz took four wickets and all-rounder Shakib al Hasan took three wickets. Bangladeshi Openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam took their team over the line in 6.3 overs. After the defeat, fans and cricketers criticised Pakistan’s performance.
Shahid Afridi also said that the defeat against Bangladesh raised serious questions about the preparations of pitches in Pakistan. He also said that the Pakistan team lacked awareness about home conditions.
