New Delhi: The Mahakumbh Mela is India’s largest religious festival in which crores of people participate. Every 12 years, the Mahakumbh is held with much pomp and splendour. The Mela takes place every 12 years and it is being held from January 13 to February 26 this year in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Popular belief states that a dip at the Mahakumbh absolves a person of all sins and helps to attain salvation. The Mahakumbh represents the age-old Indian culture and traditions.

This year’s Mahakumbh has been attended by crores of people and many of them have reached Prayagraj by trains. The Indian Railways is leaving no stone unturned to facilitate smooth travel for passengers and recently, the Northern Railways announced a special Vande Bharat train service for those going to Mahakumbh.

When will the Vande Bharat train operate?

The special Vande Bharat train announced by the Northern Railways is operating between New Delhi and Varanasi via Prayagraj and it is operational on February 15, 16, and 17. The special train has been announced to facilitate a comfortable journey for pilgrims going to the largest spiritual gathering in the world. The Indian Railways is running two Vande Bharat special trains keeping the heavy influx of people at Mahakumbh in mind.

Train from New Delhi to Varanasi

The number of the train which runs from New Delhi to Varanasi is 02252. It departs from New Delhi at 5:30 AM. It stops on Prayagraj at 12:00 PM and arrives at Varanasi at 2:20 PM.

Train from Varanasi to New Delhi

The number of this train is 02251. It departs from Varanasi at 3:15 PM and stops on Prayagraj at 5:20 PM. It arrives at New Delhi at 11:50 PM.

While speaking to ANI, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railways said that the special Vande Bharat train is being operated to provide special facilities to the people going to the Mahakumbh. This year, the Mahakumbh has seen massive attendance. The turnout has been humungous especially for major bathing days. Over 400,000 travelers went to Mahakumbh by taking 140 trains, showing railway services’ important role in transporting the pilgrims to Prayagraj.

 The Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj saw record attendance this year.
