Washington: Billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk shared an animated video of former president Donald Trump who is in the fray in the US polls as Republican nominee.
Musk officially endorsed Trump on July 13, 2024, following an assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. This endorsement marked a shift for Musk, who had previously supported Democratic candidates like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Musk has poured millions into his pro-Trump committee, America PAC, which has already spent $118 million and has the budget to spend tens of millions more. This financial backing is seen as a major boost for Trump’s campaign.
Musk’s support for Trump is closely tied to his desire for significant government deregulation, particularly in the realm of space exploration. Musk has argued that excessive regulations hinder innovation and impede progress toward becoming a multiplanetary species, a central goal of his company, SpaceX.
Musk has been vocal about his support for Trump on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). He has expressed concerns about overregulation and its impact on America’s future in space, stating that voting for Trump is voting for Mars.
The endorsement has not been without controversy. Musk’s anti-union statements and his alignment with Trump’s policies have drawn criticism from Democrats and labor unions. Some Democratic strategists believe that Musk’s endorsement may have backfired by energizing the Democratic base against Trump.
Another video was also shared by the X handle of former president and republican nominee.
