New Delhi: Manchester United have given the go-ahead to Antony to travel to Seville in order to complete his move on loan to Real Betis. The move is supposed to be a straight loan transfer and won’t come with an option to buy. The Spanish outfit will be covering 84 percent of the Brazilian’s wages along with potential bonuses which is dependent on performance during the loan period. It has been reported that there are no loan fees upfront and Antony is likely to stay with the club until June.

The 24-year-old currently draws £105,000 per week at United and will spend the other half of the season with Betis after making just 14 appearances across competitions for the side this season. The loan deal is estimated to take down £1.5 million of the Red Devil’s balance sheet for the rest of the season.

Antony’s struggle at Old Trafford

The move will hopefully for now end a disappointing stint for the Brazilian forward at the Old Trafford since arriving in the club from Ajax in September 2022 for £84 million. In his debut season with United, Antony made 23 starts in the Premier League which in the very next season fell down to 15.

In the current season, he hasn’t made a single league start so far with his recent one coming in the Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in December. Across competitions, he has made only three starts. For United, he has played 96 games, scoring 12 goals, with the last goal in the league coming in April 2023.

His current contract with United runs until 2027 and has an option to extend another year. Betis is currently placed 12th in the table with former Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini at the helm of the club. Having sold Assan Diao to Como in the January transfer window Los Mejores have been looking for a right-sided attacking player.

Manchester United’s forward Antony is moving to La Liga side Real Betis on loan move for the rest of the season without an option to buy, after yet another disappointing season at the old Trafford.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
