New Delhi: Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker congratulated Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal for winning medals in shooting at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Friday, August 30. Lekhara won a gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 while Agarwal won the bronze medal in the same event.
Lekhara finished with a score of 249.7 and defended her title successfully from the Tokyo Paralympics. She also surpassed her previous Paralympic record of 249.6. Agarwal, who was in the running for the gold medal, finished with a score of 228.7 after the final round.
Bhaker who won two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics 2024 acknowledged the effort of both shooters and wrote on X “A big congratulations to Avani Lekhara on her incredible Gold medal achievement and to Mona Agarwal for clinching the Bronze at the Paris Paralympics! Your achievements are a testament to perseverance and talent. Well done!” Manu Bhaker said in her post.

‘Focused on winning more medals’: Avani Lekhara
After the match, Lekhara said that the final was very close and there was very little gap between 1,2 and 3. Lekhara also said that she has two more matches to play and she is focused on winning more medals for India.
“It was a very close final. There was very less gap between 1, 2 and 3. I was focussing on my thought process and not the result” Avani said after her historic win here.
“I’m happy that the Indian national anthem was the first national anthem that got played in the arena this time too. I have two more matches to go so I’m focusing on winning more medals for the country” she added.
