London: A new biography of a royal insider has revealed that Meghan Markel was banned by Prince William from wearing his late mother’s jewellery at her wedding with Prince Harry.
The Prince of Wales, who proposed to Kate Middleton with his mother’s engagement ring, was worried from the start about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle. He asked his younger brother, Harry, to slow things down so Meghan could adjust to royal life before fully committing. This information comes from royal author Rob Jobson in his new book, “Catherine, the Princess of Wales.” Jobson describes how there were tensions between the Sussexes and the Wales family before Meghan officially joined the family in 2018.
“William, still concerned by the match, even sought assurances from the Queen that his brother’s bride-to-be would not wear any jewellery in the collection once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, even though his wife Catherine had been allowed to wear some, which would be due to her rank,” he wrote in the book.
The book reveals that the relationship between the brothers was already strained before Ms. Markle joined the royal family. Mr. Jobson notes that William and Kate Middleton were concerned about the rapid progression of Harry and Ms. Markle’s relationship, which further exacerbated their already troubled dynamic when Harry introduced his fiancée to them.
The author wrote, “Harry contended that the goodwill from William and Catherine had dissipated well before the buildup to his wedding. William had privately suggested to his brother that it would be wise to allow Meghan more time to adjust to royal life and recommended that Harry slow down the relationship.”
“Harry felt deeply offended and interpreted this as an insult. Consequently, his relationship with his brother deteriorated rapidly. According to Harry’s book ‘Spare,’ William even physically assaulted him,” he added.
