MI complete squad for IPL 2025: Trent Boult top pick, Allah Ghazanfar surprise buy

MI complete squad for IPL 2025: Trent Boult top pick, Allah Ghazanfar surprise buy

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians enjoyed a decent outing in the two-day IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The five-time champions entered the mega auction after having retained superstar players Hardik Pandya (skipper), Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav. After a horrific display in the 2024 edition where MI finished bottom of the table, MI will enter the 2025 edition with a revamped squad.

On Day 1, MI reunited with some of the former players including Trent Boult, Naman Dhir and Karn Sharma and also roped in young wicket-keeper Robin Minz.

On Day 2, the Mumbai-based franchise made some interesting decisions by splurging big bucks on Deepak Chahar and Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar.

Boult, a former MI and Royals pacer, was the most expensive pick of the franchise going for Rs 12.50 crore on the opening day.

The decision to buy Chahar will raise some eyebrows due to his history of injuries. The former CSK pacer missed the IPL 2022 due to a hamstring injury and also missed quite a few games in the 2023 and 2024 editions.

New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner and English all-rounder Will Jacks were the other two big picks on Day 2.

MI also retained the services of Arjun Tendulkar, who was bought in the final round for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
