New Delhi: Years of perseverance, hard work and belief paid off as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally won the Indian Premier League title for the first time. RCB beat Punjab Kings in the final match of the 2025 edition on Tuesday to bag the prestigious trophy. While it was an massive accolade for the Royal Challengers, it became a gigantic victory for star player Virat Kohli who has been more than an ambassador for the franchise.
Kohli, who is the face of the team and has been associated with RCB right from the inaugural edition in 2008, was visibly seen in tears at the Ahmedabad cricket stadium when the franchise emerged victorious in the summit clash, which saw some drama towards the end. The margin of the win was just six runs but it became mammoth in terms of the feat achieved.
Massive achievement for Kohli
Kohli, who was a bit sluggish in match but still contributed with 43 runs in the first innings, considers the victory a massive achievement for him. The star player and the franchise received praise and felicitation for the historic feat and continue to receive applauds from around the world. On Friday, the legendary cricketer featured on the front cover of the famous Sportstar magazine, a monthly sports publication that honoured the RCB legend.
With ‘Mission Accomplished’ written in bold and a one line message for Kohli’s loyalty at the RCB camp, the star player’s photo with the trophy in the hand and smile on his face caught a lot of eyeballs online.

It was after 18 years of passion and relentlessness that Kohli’s RCB earned the prestigious trophy. On the batting front, the star player ended on the third spot in the Orange Cap list with 657 runs in 15 matches with a highest score of 73.
