New Delhi: Australia all-rounder Mitchell March announced on Monday to have shaken off his injury concerns and is availability to play in the second Test against India that begins in Adelaide on December 6.
Australia trail the five match series 0-1 after getting hammered by 295 runs in the opening match at Perth in which Marsh complained of discomfort.
The right armer had bowled 19.3 overs at the Optus Stadium of Perth but suffered from stiffness afterwards that cast a doubt over his chances to play in the day-night match.
It forced the home side to include uncapped Tasmania all-rounder Beau Webster in the squad as doubts over Marsh’s fitness arose, which has been put to rest now.
“The body’s all good, yep. Nah, nah, I’m good to go. I’ll be there,” March told Channel Nine after landing in Adelaide on Monday.
Hazlewood injured, out
It will be a relief for Australia who have already lost top pacer Josh Hazlewood with a side train. Scott Boland is tipped to replace Hazlewood in the pink ball Test.
Marsh has had his share of injury woes over the years, undergoing suregery on a recurring ankle injury that limited his bowling role., turning himself into a specialist top-order batter.
After missing parts of the 2022-23 season while on rehab after the operation, Marsh returned to the Test side with a hundred in the Ashes last year, scoring 803 runs at an average of 44.61 in 11 games.
At Perth, he was only the second batter after Travis Head to put up any resistance against Indian bowlers with a fighting 47 off 57 balls in the second innings.
