New Delhi: Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was at his lethal best as he breathed fire with the ball during India’s first innings on Day 3 of the third Test between the two sides at the Gabba in Brisbane on Monday. Starc once again produced his magic with the new ball as he dismissed Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in quick succession to leave the visitors reeling.
In pursuit of Australia’s first-innings total of 445 runs, India got off to a disastrous start as Starc wreaked havoc on the top order. The veteran left-arm pacer sent Jaiswal packing cheaply on just 4 runs on the second ball of the first over before dismissing Gill on the first ball of his second over. Starc reduced India to tatters in a matter of just six deliveries at the start of their first innings on Day 3.
Jaiswal was caught by Mitchell Marsh at short mid-wicket after playing a flick shot on a half-volley from Starc. Though Jaiswal had a cheeky smile on his face after the dismissal, he instantly regretted the flick shot, realising what he had done. Jaiswal was dismissed by Starc in the very first over for the second time in the series after his first-ball dismissal against the left-arm pacer in the 2nd Test in Adelaide.
Starc didn’t stop there as he went on to pile more misery on the visitors in the next over by getting rid of Gill on 1 off 3 balls. The right-hander too was caught by Marsh, who pulled off a brilliant diving catch at gully after Gill tried to go after an outside off delivery which was angled off the right-hander. His dismissal reduced India to 6/2 in just 2.1 overs in their first innings.

India lose another. And it is only the 3rd over.
Shubman tries to drive one outside off and pays the price. Can’t be playing that shot after watching the Australian wickets over the past two days.

Virat Kohli fails again
Senior India batter Virat Kohli too failed to deliver as he endured yet another disappointing outing in India’s first innings of the third Test at the Gabba. Kohli, who came out to bat at number 4, was dismissed cheaply on just 3 off 16 balls by Josh Hazlewood. Kohli once again edged a ball on the 4th stump line from the pacer to get caught by wicket-keeper Alex Carey.
Mitchell Starc breathed fire with the ball as he got Australia off to dream start by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in quick succession during India’s first innings of the 3rd Test at the Gabba.
