Odisha’s best chance came when Rahul KP chased down against a shaky Vishal Kaith. Kaith had nearly lost possession but the ball rolled behind for a goal kick. In the 16th minute, Manvir Singh made a grounded but powerful shot but Amrinder Singh denied Mohun Bagan the goal. Hugo Boumous then played a through ball to Rahul but Kaith cleared the effort with no one following. In the 28th minute, there were shouts for a penalty when Jamie Maclaren got fouled by Moutaba Fall.
Even Subhashish Bose played a long ball in Greg Stewart’s way, who back-heeled the ball and passed to Maclaren but he could go past Fall.
The game became much more physical towards the end of the first half with both teams trying to get better of the other with the game seeing more end-to-end action. Manvir remained lively at the right wing with Dorielton looking to run in the channels. In the added time at the end of the first half, Stewart had almost given a win to the home team, when he struck a rebound ball but Amrinder made every effort to deny the goal.
Following the action resuming, Mohun Bagan were looking desperate to score their opener. Apuia had his shot blocked with Manvir’s header too fell short of falling on target. Manvir had another chance when he received a good pass from Stewart but his shot went wide.

For Odish a chance came in the 63rd minute when Carlos Delgado flicked a free-kick to Fall who wasn’t marked but Kaith managed to hold on to the shot. Jose Molina’s side wanted a goal badly and throughout the normal time kept creating chances while Odisha looked less confident.
It was Petratos, who in the added time, scored after receiving a ball from Manvir inside the penalty box and feeding the ball into the bottom left corner. It was the goal that the hosts needed for the title to be theirs. Mohun Bagan managed to keep the lead and took home a 1-0 win. The win means they are the first side to defend their ISL title.
