New Delhi: Narender Kandola started his Kabaddi journey by watching older children practice. Narender debuted in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9 with Tamil Thaliavais. Now he was retained by his franchise before the mega auction. Narender’ is nicknamed ‘Nanha’ in his hometown which means small in his village.
Narender also shared the story behind his nickname as he wasn’t that tall at his young age compared to his friends thatswhy he is called Nanha. Today after his big stage debut, even now his neighbours called him Nanha. Narender started his journey by playing with older boys for fun but after some time his fun transformed into a passion for the game.
Kandola was a spectator of the game in his intial days but after some time he made many friends through Kabaddi. Narender was present every time in the practice session and his dedication caught the eye of his coach Sandeep Kandola, his childhood coach. Then coach Sandeep pushed Narender everytime on the field to play.
Narender’s coach was a kabaddi player and has a government officer and has grown a tradition of Kabaddi in their village. Narender’s skills and abilities have flourished under his childhood coach’s guidance. Narender praised PKL and Mashal sports, he got the recognition from the people beacuse of these two bodies.
Narender’s debut season was his big break in his career, he made 243 raid points in his debut season. Tamil Thalaiavas CEO Shushen Vashishth also recalled a crucial moment of Narender’s journey when Thalaivas lost a match in Chennai and Narender was very much disappointed with his performance in that match and this was the turning point in Narender’s PKL career.
After that turning point, Narender worked on his body movements and practicsed hard and then he made Super 10 in almost every match and created history in the rest of the season.
Kandola has seen many ups and downs in his career and mostly believed in “Do your work, don’t worry about the result”. Today Narender is one of the best young talents in the PKL, his story not only motivates the young lads but also contributes to growing the sport.
