New Delhi: Every year on August 26, National Dog Day is commemorated, and it is the greatest celebration for all furry companions. Colleen Paige, a proponent of pet and family lifestyles, created the inaugural National Dog Day in 2004. There are eight dog breeds in the world: sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting, herding, and miscellaneous, and there are over 150 different dog breeds.

Dogs range in size from a 36-inch Great Dane weighing over 150 pounds to a 2-pound Chihuahua.
