Netanyahu to Meet Biden and Harris in Washington, Trump in Florida

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House on Thursday, according to the Prime Minister’s Office. This will be their first encounter since Biden’s visit to Israel following the October 7 Hamas attack. The meeting is set for 1 p.m. local time.

The White House confirmed the meeting and added that Biden and Netanyahu would also meet with the families of American hostages. About a dozen of these hostages are in Washington for Netanyahu’s speech and have urged him to announce approval of a hostage deal currently under discussion.

Meeting with Biden was originally slated for Tuesday

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the meeting had to be postponed as Biden was returning from Delaware, where he had been quarantining after contracting COVID-19.

Netanyahu will meet Trump on Friday

In a separate development, Israeli officials confirmed that Netanyahu will also meet former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday. Trump had earlier caused confusion with conflicting posts about the meeting’s timing on social media, initially stating it would be on Wednesday, then Thursday, before finalizing it for Friday.

The Netanyahu-Trump meeting will be closed to the press.

Netanyahu will also meet Harris

Following his meeting with Biden, Netanyahu is also scheduled to meet with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday. According to a statement from Harris’s office, the vice president will discuss the need for a resolution to the conflict that ensures Israel’s security, the release of all hostages, and an end to the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Harris also aims to address the Palestinian people’s right to dignity, freedom, and self-determination.
