New Delhi: The grand finale of News9’s Indian Tigers and Tigresses football hunt concluded at the Sudeva ground in New Delhi on Saturday, March 8. The talented boys and girls who made it to the final, were excited even before hitting the ground, thrilled at being part of a unique initiative by News9.
The Tigers and Tigresses, in the age group between 12 and 17, from around the country arrived in Delhi for the grand finale of the talent hunt. The best of young talents were selected for the final after regional trials were conducted across the nation – from Jammu and Kashmir in the north to Bangalore in the south and from far west in Maharashtra and Gujarat to the West Bengal in the east. Accompanying the kids were their parents, who encouraged their ward’s participation in the final hurdle of the campaign.
A glimpse of the grand finale
From the word go, the participants hit the ground, making full use of the amazing atmosphere at the Sudeva ground. The talented kids, handpicked by coaches from trials conducted across the country through this amazing initiative, showcased their skills on the football pitch as others watched from the sidelines.
The excitement was evident as the players came from the farthest corner of the country for a chance to train and hone their skills with the best in the field of football in Austria as they face the final challenge. The students took part in fitness tests showcasing their dribbling and passing skills before playing age-grouped games to show their match awareness and match playing skill, as well as their ability to mould in a team. Ultimately, 32 participants have been chosen to travel to Austria and will get a chance to improve their talent.
On the big occasion, Mr. Anuj Gupta, co-owner and President of Sudeva FC & President of Delhi Soccer Association said that watching so many kinds on the ground in a great feel and offers lot of inspiration to the young boys and girls.
“After going through 11 states, getting these 200+ kids in Sudeva is a great feeling. Watching so many kids on one ground, with a lot of parents coming in, it shows how fast this sport. News9’s Indian Tigers and Tigresses is a great initiative and it gives a lot of motivation and inspiration to the young boys and girls. The ones who get selected get an opportunity to go to Austria,” Mr. Anuj Gupta said.
