Chennai: Step out only, if necessary, as Chennai is set to sizzle today, warns weather blogger, Srikanth. In a post on ‘X’ he has said Chennai and its suburbs may see its hottest day as most of the city may record 41/42 degrees Celsius today. He has also said that many parts of North Coastal Tamil Nadu may record over 42 degrees C while places like Tiruvallur and Ranipet may record up to 44 degrees C.

On the other hand, Chennai based weather blogger Pradeep John known as Tamil Nadu weatherman said there will be a respite from heat soon. In a ‘X’ post he has said, From June 2nd the heat will reduce in Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu & Chennai. Massive thunderstorm can be expected in North Tamil Nadu from June 1.
Tiruttani 42.5 C steals the hottest place from Meena which records another hottest day of the year at 41.9C. Vellore too joins the 41C club.
Today wetbulb temperature at many places of city crossed 32C.

Meanwhile, School reopening has been postponed in Puducherry. Due to prevailing heatwave conditions, the Puducherry government has postponed the reopening of schools (Govt/Govt. Aided/Private/CBSE) to June 12 from June 6.
