New Delhi: India have turned from a batting-oriented team to a bowler-driven unit due to its formibale attack spearheaded by Jasprit Bunrag, head coach Gautam Gambhir opined on Wednesday, on the eve of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
India host a two-match series with the first game beginning at the Chepauk Stadium on Thursday with the aim of maintaining their top-rank status in the World Test Championship rankings.
It will be the first Test series for the Indian team since Gambhir took over as the head coach in July and said their bowling quartet comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are one of the best in world cricket, if not the best.
“India once was a batting-obsessed nation. But Bumrah, Shami, Ashwin and Jadeja have turned it into a bowlers’ game,” he said.
