New Delhi: Rohit Sharma has started the preparations for the upcoming three-match home Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16. The Indian captain shared a video in which he was seen batting in the nets.
He led Team India to a 2-0 series victory against Bangladesh. In a video shared on his official Instagram handle, Rohit was seen making his way into the nets when someone in the ground asked him to start the net session with a maximum and Rohit gave an instant reply saying “Pagal ho gya hai kya?”.
Rohit to miss start of Border-Gavaskar Trophy?
As per reports, Rohit will miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is scheduled to start on November 22 in Perth. The Indian skipper has reportedly conveyed to the chief selector and the officials of the BCCI that he might miss the first Test due to a personal reason.
Rohit has played seven Test matches in Australia and scored 408 runs at an average of 31, including three fifties. The Indian captain is expected to play an important role in Australia as the Men in Blue are looking to win their consecutive Test series after 2018-19 and 2020-21.
Team India also looking to seal their spot in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) for the third consecutive time. The Men in Blue lost the WTC final against New Zealand in 2021 and against Australia in 2023. Rohit Sharma and Co. will play three Test matches at home against New Zealand in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai.
After that, Team India will tour Australia for the five-match Test series. The opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to start on November 22 in Perth, followed by a pink ball Test at Adelaide Oval on December 6. The third match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy will be played in Brisbane on December 14 while the Boxing Day Test will be played at the MCG on December 26. The final Test match will start on January 3 in Sydney.
