New Delhi: Calling out his own country over rigged general elections, Pakistan‘s leader of Opposition of Pakistani Senate Shibli Faraz, praised India for conducting free and fair Lok Sabha polls. Shibli Faraz expressed disappointment over the failure of Pakistani authorities to conduct free elections, and asked why it cannot conduct a free election as done by India in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls.
Pointing out the flaws in electoral system of Pakistan, Shibli Fazar highlighted in the Parliament how India held its lengthy election with the EVMs and results were announced without any allegations of fraud. ” Why can’t we achieve the same?” the Pakistani leader questioned.
“I want to quote the example of our enemy country, they have just concluded their elections in which more than 800 million people voted. Thousands of polling stations were set up. They even made a polling station for the areas where just one person had to cast his vote,” said Faraz praising the Indian election system. “No one said that there were any discrepancies, or they were rigged,” he added.
Faraz asked the Pakistani authorities to learn from India. “We want to be in the same league as India. In our own country, no one agress with the election results. This is damaging our election system,” the Pakistani leader said in the Parliament.
Rigged Elections of Pakistan
Pakistan held general elections in February this year amid tight security, which were claimed to be rigged by the Opposition parties. Internet services were suspended in several districts of Punjab and Balochistan during the elections. Leaders of PTI called April 21 as black day alleging blatant violation of laws. Candidates complained of irregularities during the election process. Many candidates claimed that they saw significant leads suddenly disappear or results that were announced in their favor only to be reversed to declare an opponent the winner.
It was also claimed that the candidates were barred from entering the polling stations and that polling agents were stopped from collecting results, reported AP. PTI leader Salman Akram Raja has also filed a case at Lahore High Court challenging the results in his constituency.
