New Delhi: Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf revealed his side of the story as he issued a clarification on his official Twitter account after a video of his ugly altercation with a Pakistani fan went viral on social media. Rauf can be seen charging towards the fan during a heated argument which took place in the US as the Pakistan team is yet to return home after the end of their campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
In the video which has been doing the rounds on social media, Rauf can be seen taking a walk with his wife on the streets when he is left angry after a verbal exchange with a fan. He threatens to hit the fan and charges towards him before being stopped by his wife and a couple of other fans present around.
“Tera India nahi hai ye (This is not your India),” Rauf can be heard telling the fan, who responds by telling him that he is a Pakistani.
“Nahi, main Pakistan se hoon, 1 picture maangi hai bass aapka fan hoon,” the person tells Rauf, who responds with by shouting – “Pakistani hai aur yeh teri haalat hai. Baap ko gaali dega (You are a Pakistani and you are abusing my father).”

Sharing his side of the story after the video went viral, Rauf revealed the fan abused his family members which invoked a response from him. The Pakistan pacer insistent as a cricketer he is often to all sorts of feedback from fans whether positive or negative, however, he won’t tolerate abuse towards his parents or family members.
“I decided not to bring this on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticise us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parents and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” read a statement from Rauf.

Pakistan team to leave US soon
The Pakistan team are likely to fly back home from the US on Tuesday after getting eliminated from the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan suffered a shock Super Over defeat against USA in their opener before losing a low-scoring thriller against arch-rivals India to lose two games in a row. The back-to-back defeats shattered their hopes of making it to the Super 8 as they bowed out of the tournament early.
Pakistan did manage to win their remaining two matches against Canada and Ireland in the group stage but two wins were not enough for them to qualify for the Super Eight. Big changes are expected in the Pakistan squad after their disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 amid criticism from all corners for captain Babar Azam and the players.
