New Delhi: The Aadhaar Card is unarguably the most important document that every Indian citizen must have right now. It has a unique 12-digit number which issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to every Indian citizen. The identification number enables access to cardholder’s details from the government database like contact information and more importantly, the biometrics.
Any person, irrespective of age and gender, can enrol for an Aadhaar number voluntarily provided that the person is a resident of India. The enrolment process does not require any cost and after the enrolment, the details of the individual are permanently stored in the database. One person can have only one Aadhaar number. On the other hand, the PAN is a 10-digit Unique Identification number which is written in a card that the Income Tax Department provides. The PAN Card is a physical card which contains the PAN and other details of a person. It is used as proof of identity or to furnish proof of date of birth.
The Government of India has made it mandatory to link the Aadhaar Card with the PAN Card. All holders of PAN cards must link them with their Aadhaar cards. But there can be doubt if it is already linked. In this article, we inform you about how to check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status.
How to check PAN-Aadhaar link status
You can check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status without logging into the Income Tax portal by following the below-mentioned steps.
Step 1: First, go to the Income Tax e-filing portal and go to the ‘Quick Links’ heading.
Step 2: After that, you have to click on the ‘Link Aadhaar Status’.
Step 3: In the next step, you have to enter the Aadhaar number and the PAN number and then click on the ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ button.
Step 4: If the Aadhaar is linked with the PAN, the message “Your PAN is already linked to the given Aadhaar” will be displayed. Otherwise, the message “PAN not linked with Aadhaar. Please click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ to link your Aadhaar with PAN” will appear.
You can check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status by logging into the Income Tax portal by following the below-mentioned steps.
Step 1: First, you have to log into the Income Tax e-filing portal.
Step 2: On the homepage, go to the Dashboard and click on the ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ option.
Step 3: Also, you can go to ‘My Profile’ and then select the option of ‘Link Aadhaar Status’.
If the PAN and Aadhaar are linked, the screen will show the Aadhaar number. If the PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, then the message ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ will be displayed.
